The suspect who police say intentionally killed a father of five with his car in Phoenix on Dec. 27 has been arrested.

The suspect, Miguel Preciado Jr., 38, appeared in court on Dec. 31 in connection with the death of Ethan Felix, 35.

Police say the suspect intentionally hit Felix with his car near 16th Street and Thomas Road around 7:30 p.m.

On Dec. 31, Phoenix Police said deputies from the Pima County Sheriff's Department found Preciado Jr.'s car in a desert area just outside of Tucson on Dec. 30.

"While the vehicle was being processed, additional Pima Sheriff Deputies located Miguel several miles away and were able to take him into custody without incident," Phoenix Police Sgt. Brian Bower said.

Preciado Jr. was reportedly found after he called 911 due to dehydration from being in the desert.

While in court on New Year's Eve, Preciado Jr. was accused of first-degree murder, among other felonies, and was given a $2.5 million bond.

Felix's family says he leaves behind five children.

His family and friends remember him as a kindhearted person, always willing to go the extra mile and help others.
