3 teens shot, 1 killed at Chandler sports complex; suspect arrested
CHANDLER, Ariz. - A suspect has been arrested after a shooting in Chandler left a teenager dead and two others are hurt.
The shooting happened just before 9 p.m. on March 10 at Snedigar Sports Complex near Alma School and Ocotillo Roads.
Chandler PD says they responded after receiving reports of gunshots in the area. When officers got to the scene, they found three people who had been shot. One of the victims. 16-year-old Jaylan Collins of Queen Creek, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The other two victims, identified as 17-year-olds from San Tan Valley, survived the shooting.
Officers searched the area for suspects, but no one was found. Investigators say the shooting occurred between two groups of people who knew each other.
Nineteen-year-old Javion Keandre Brown of Casa Grande was identified as the suspect and arrested on March 14, police said. He was booked into jail and is accused of multiple charges, including first-degree murder, armed robbery and aggravated assault.
