Police: Student arrested for selling fentanyl-laced pills at Notre Dame Prep

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (FOX 10) - Police say a Notre Dame Preparatory High School student was hospitalized after overdosing on a pill laced with fentanyl, and another student accused of selling it has been arrested.

According to the Scottsdale Police Department, officers were called on February 6 to the home of a 17-year-old teen who was unconscious and unresponsive.

When officers determined he was showing signs of symptoms of an opioid overdose, firefighters administered multiple doses of Naloxone, commonly known as Narcan, and transported the teen to a local hospital.

He has since made a full recovery.

The following morning, school resource officers at Notre Dame Preparatory High School detained a 16-year-old student who had been identified as the person who gave the pill to the student who overdosed.

A search of the teen's vehicle was conducted where seven more pills and additional drug paraphernalia were found. The items were then turned over to police and the 16-year-old teen was arrested.

A search warrant was served on his home and two more pills were found.

The teen has been released pending further evidence testing and charges through the Maricopa County Attorney's Office.

Police say the pills found in the teen's possession are counterfeit prescription narcotics containing fentanyl.

It does not appear any additional pills were given to any other students.

Police say the names of the victim and suspect are not being released because of their age. Police also say there is no other information out that more pills have been distributed to other students, but they are asking parents to have conversations with their kids, in order to make them aware of the dangers with taking any pills.
