Pinterest announced it would lay off just under 15% of their workforce.
The company said it was restructuring as it pivots more of its money to artificial intelligence.
Push for AI
Big picture view:
In addition to the layoffs, the company announced it would be reducing its office space.
Like other tech and social media companies, Pinterest has accelerated its integration of AI recently, particularly in consumer-facing offerings.
In October, the company introduced AI-powered updates to users’ in-platform "boards" and unveiled Pinterest Assistant, which is also powered by AI and gives users shopping recommendations.
By the numbers:
Pinterest had about 5,200 employees at the end of 2025, the company told The Associated Press.
