Phoenix Police officers involved in deadly shooting identified

PHOENIX (FOX 10) - Phoenix Police officials have identified the officers involved in a deadly officer-involved shooting that took place on the early morning hours of January 11.

According to the Phoenix Police Department, the shooting happened near 92nd Avenue and Camelback at around 12:22 a.m. on January 11. The suspects reportedly committed an armed robbery at a fast food restaurant on the 1400 block Dysart in Avondale. The suspects then fled the scene, and were later stopped in a car along the 9200 block of W. Camelback.

A suspect, later identified by Sgt. Tommy Thompson as 19-year-old Jacob Michael Harris, got out of the car armed with a handgun, refused to follow orders, and pointed his gun in the direction of officers, as he started to move towards an occupied convenience stores. Two SAU officers then opened fire, an Harris later died from his injuries

Police say there are three other suspects in the incident. One of the suspect is a 14-year-old boy. The other two suspects were identified as 19-year-old Sariah Christina Busani, and 20-year-old Jeremiah Lynn Triplett. Both are facing armed robbery and first degree murder charges.

The two officers involved were identified by Phoenix Police on Monday as 33-year-old Kristopher Bertz and 46-year-old David Norman. Both officers, according to police, are white. Bertz is a 12-year veteran of the police department, and Norman is a 21-year veteran.
