Phoenix child pornography suspect arrested after skipping bail, fleeing to Mexico: PD

A fugitive who skipped bail on child pornography charges and fled the country has been arrested, police said.

Phoenix Police say 51-year-old Glenn Bales was arrested in November 2018 on 10 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor. Following his arrest, Bales bonded out of jail and was issued an ankle monitor.

In 2020, police say Bales violated the terms of his release, cut off his ankle monitor and fled Arizona.

"A warrant was issued for his arrest and the FBI Phoenix/Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office Fugitive Task Force opened up a federal fugitive investigation to help find Bales," police said.

Investigators say they learned Bales was in Mexico and working under the alias of "Jacob Spade."

"The Fugitive Task Force located Spade and positively identified him as Bales, who was then arrested in Mexico on his U.S. warrant," police said.

Following his arrest in Mexico, Bales was flown to Los Angeles. On Jan. 6, Maricopa County Sheriff's deputies flew Bales to Phoenix where he was arrested and taken to jail.

On Tuesday, a judge ordered Bales to be held on a $1 million cash bond.
