Cancer Day of Action at the Arizona State Capitol
Dozens of volunteers, cancer survivors, patients, and caregivers gathered at the Arizona State Capitol on Feb. 6 for the annual Cancer Action Day as a way to advocate for care. FOX 10's Danielle Miller reports.
PHOENIX - Dozens of volunteers, cancer survivors, patients and caregivers took to the Arizona State Capitol on Feb. 6 for the annual Cancer Day of Action.
The goal of the day is for cancer fighting advocates from across the state to meet with members of the State Legislature.
"It's a day to bring together cancer fighting advocates from all over the state to come and meet with members of the Arizona Legislature to discuss why it's important that we support public policy that helps reduce the burden among our communities," said Cristianne Scherrer.
Attendees advocate for care access
The event is hosted by the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network. Those at the event say cancer is a bipartisan issue, and everyone should work together.

"Cancer impacts all of us in some way," said Miguel Ruiz. "I had several family members pass away. My cousins and my grandparents have cancer."
By the numbers:
According to the American Cancer Society in 2025, more than 42,000 Arizona residents will be newly diagnosed with cancer.
