A shooting at a Halloween party in Oklahoma City left one person dead and 12 others hurt, police said.

Capt. Valerie Littlejohn of the Oklahoma City Police Department told The Associated Press in an email that multiple shots were fired inside and outside a private venue around 12:30 a.m. Saturday.

Police told local news outlet KOCO 5 that the shooting started when two groups got into an argument, and that police believed multiple people fired shots.

KFOR 4 reported the shooting happened at a place called Patty’s Events Center, where a Halloween party was being hosted.

Other details about the event weren’t known.

Littlejohn said at least two of the people hurt were in critical condition at a hospital. Police didn’t release information about the person who died.

Multiple people were detained and investigators were interviewing witnesses.
