North Phoenix shooting leaves man dead

A suspect is on the loose after a man died following a shooting in a neighborhood near Interstate 17 and the Loop 101.

A suspect has been arrested in connection to a shooting in north Phoenix that left a man dead.

The shooting happened just after 10 p.m. on Dec. 11 in a neighborhood near Interstate 17 and the Loop 101.

Phoenix Police say officers responded to the scene and found a man with at least one gunshot wound. The man was taken to a hospital where he later died. He was identified as 22-year-old Steven Laguna.

"The suspect in this shooting took off from the area prior to police arrival," police said. "Homicide detectives responded to assume the investigation."

The area was shut down due to the investigation.

On Dec. 12, 20-year-old Nathan Calles Jr. was arrested. He was booked into jail and is accused of multiple charges, including murder and aggravated assault.
