Man shot during attempted armed robbery in Phoenix

PHOENIX - An attempted armed robbery in west Phoenix ended in a shooting on Friday, officials said.

Police were called to an area near 73rd Avenue and Roosevelt at around 1 a.m. and found a man with a gunshot wound. He is expected to survive his injuries.

"This incident was determined to be an armed robbery attempt prior to the shooting," police said in a statement.
