Man faces DUI charges after car damages home

A man is facing charges after a strange crash in Peoria.

Police say 25-year-old Venancio Silva Ramirez was driving in the area of 73rd Avenue and Peoria when he slammed into another vehicle, and the impact of that crash caused the second vehicle to plow into a home. The crash also caused a gas leak at the scene of the damaged house, leading to evacuations of nearby homes. Officers say Ramirez was driving too fast, and then sped off after the accident.

A witness wrote down a license plate number, which led officers to find Ramirez at his home in Glendale. He's now facing charges of driving under the influence and reckless driving.
