Man arrested in deadly kidnapping in Cochise County

Deputies say a 75-year-old woman called police saying she had been kidnapped and when police arrived they found her 67-year-old boyfriend dead.

The Brief

    • An elderly woman in Pearce, Ariz. was kidnapped and her 67-year-old boyfriend was found dead at their home.
    • Police arrested 37-year-old Rynn Prairie Rocca in connection with the crimes.
    • The 75-year-old woman was able to escape from the alleged kidnapper at a nearby Dollar General.

COCHISE COUNTY, Ariz. - A man has been arrested in connection to a deadly kidnapping in Cochise County. 

It started with a woman who reported being kidnapped on Friday, Jan. 3. 

Cochise County deputies say a 75-year-old woman called around 8:10 p.m., saying she had been kidnapped by a man later identified as 37-year-old Rynn Prairie-Rocca. 

The kidnapping happened near Catclaw Road and Highway 181 in Pearce, Ariz.

She was taken in his car and later managed to escape when he stopped at a Dollar General.

Police went to her home and found her 67-year-old boyfriend had been killed. 

That led them to another home where Prairie-Rocca was barricaded. 

He was eventually taken into custody. 

No motive has been shared.
