Man arrested in fatal shooting of his brother-in-law in Mesa
MESA, Ariz. (AP) - Police in Mesa say a man has been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of his brother-in-law.
They say probable cause was found to arrest 24-year-old Jesse Hernandez on suspicion of one count of second-degree murder and one count of misconduct involving weapons.
Police say Khalil Evans suffered multiple gunshot wounds Sunday evening and was taken to a hospital but later died.
Hernandez told authorities he was visiting his estranged wife at a Mesa apartment complex and Evans was there.
According to police, Hernandez says Evans approached him as he was leaving the scene and asked him if he had a missing key.
Police say Hernandez left the scene after the shooting and turned himself in about two hours later.
It was unclear Monday if Hernandez has a lawyer yet.
