Man arrested, accused of stabbing man to death in South Phoenix | Crime Files
PHOENIX - Police officials say an arrest has been made in connection with a stabbing that left a man dead in Phoenix.
The victim, identified by police as a 53-year-old man, was found dead at an apartment complex in South Phoenix on Oct. 21.
Here are the details in this case.
Who's the suspect?
Court documents we obtained identified the suspect as 18-year old Yaaliyah Ezekiel Jackson.
What happened?
According to court documents, Jackson called 911 at around 5:02 p.m. on Oct. 21, staying that he stabbed a person over five times with a kitchen knife at an apartment in the area of Central Avenue and Euclid Avenue, which is located to the north of Central Avenue and Dobbins Road.
Jackson, according to investigators, agreed to remain at the scene to contact officers when they arrived.
When officers arrived, they found the victim dead with "multiple apparent stab wounds to his torso." In addition, a large butcher knife was found on top of the victim's body.
The victim, according to a statement released by police on Oct. 22, was identified as Zsolt Csaszar.
What did the suspect say about the incident?
According to court documents, Jackson, during an interview that was done after he was read his Miranda rights, told investigators that his sister called him earlier in the day to request that he allow Csaszar to enter the apartment, as Jackson had the only set of keys.
Investigators said while Jackson had never met Csaszar previously, Csaszar was a friend of Jackson's sister. The apartment was leased by Jackson's sister, and Jackson was sub-leasing the apartment from his sister.
"[Jackson] unlocked the apartment for the victim and the victim entered and used the shower," read a portion of the court documents. "After showering, [Jackson] asked the victim to remove items from the bathroom. The victim asked [Jackson] to wait, and argument between the males ensued."
Jackson, according to court documents, told investigators that Csaszar shoved him several times, and Jackson shoved him back in the apartment's kitchen area. Jackson then grabbed a kitchen knife from a butcher block.
"Intending to scare the victim, [Jackson] struck the victim in the head with the knife," read a portion of the court documents.
Investigators said Jackson indicated that he felt threatened by the victim because the victim "got in my face," and felt the need to defend himself by stabbing when Csaszar continue to pursue Jackson. However, court documents noted that Jackson admitted he did not see any weapons on Csaszar's person, and that Csaszar was "significantly smaller in size than [Jackson]."
"[Jackson] stated he stabbed the victim approximately three times with the knife in the kitchen area. The males continued to "tussle into the bedroom," where [Jackson] stabbed the victim two to three more times," read a portion of the court documents.
Jackson, according to police, called his sister to tell her what happened before calling 911.

Court documents state that Jackson, who was on felony probation, is accused of 2nd Degree Murder.
A judge, according to the documents, has set a cash-only appearance bond of $1 million for Jackson.
