Man arrested after deadly high-speed crash in Tempe
TEMPE, Ariz. (KSAZ) - One person was killed during a two-car crash early Monday morning.
The Tempe Police Department tells Fox 10 that 20-year-old Chezray Young was killed and another was injured after their SUV was hit by a BMW that was driving at a high speed on University. The BMW was going almost 100 mph.
Both victims were taken to a hospital where Young was pronounced dead. The other victim remains in critical condition.
The driver of the BMW, 30-year-old Stanley Chen, has been arrested and is facing felony charges of manslaughter, aggravated assault, endangerment and hit-and-run. A passenger in the vehicle left the scene after the crash and is still on the loose.
As a result of the crash, University was shut down in both directions between Hardy and Beck for several hours.
The roadway was re-opened after 10 a.m.
