Man arrested after 42 pipe bombs are found in Mesa home

MESA, Ariz. (KSAZ) -- A Mesa man facing some serious charges tonight after a dangerous discovery was made inside his truck and his home.

Investigators say they found more than 40 pipe bombs inside his home, and material that would've allow him to make dozens more. A judge says they were only manufactured with an intent to kill people

51-year-old Jeff Metcalf reportedly could have made 30 more. He was arrested after being pulled over by troopers with the DPS task force investigating him. The bombs were detonated off-site.

The discovery led to multiple people in he neighborhood being evacuated. Some neighbors, who did not want to go on camera said they were a little spooked by everything that happened

Metcalf is a former member of the military who says he suffers from PTSD. He told police he was trying to dispose of the bombs in a lake.

FOX 10 did knock of Metcalf's door, but a man's voice from behind it told our reporter to go away. Bond is set at $50,000 for Metcalf.
