Man accused of shooting, wounding mother at home in Goodyear

GOODYEAR, Ariz. (AP) - A man has been arrested for allegedly shooting and wounding his mother at the family's home. Goodyear police say 21-year-old Gabriel Anthony Torres is being held on suspicion of attempted first-degree murder, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and first-degree burglary.

Torres is being held on a $250,000 bond. It was unclear Wednesday if Torres has a lawyer who can speak on his behalf.

Police say Torres is the estranged son of the injured woman, whose name wasn't immediately released.

They say the woman called 911 after being shot early Tuesday.

She was transported to a hospital with a non-life threatening gunshot wound.

Police say two other people inside the home weren't injured.

They say Torres was arrested after he was interviewed and officers had served search warrants.
