A police situation shut down both directions of the Loop 202 Santan at Gilbert Road on Nov. 25.
CHANDLER, Ariz. - Both directions of Loop 202 Santan in the East Valley are back open after a police situation shut down the freeway for several hours on Monday, the Arizona Department of Transportation said.
The eastbound lanes were closed at Cooper Road. The westbound lanes were closed at Gilbert Road.
Chandler Police said the Nov. 25 incident involved a welfare check.
All traffic lanes were reopened just before 2 p.m.
Later on Monday night, police revealed a bit more information, saying, "Chandler Police and multiple other agencies responded to a welfare check involving an individual in crisis on the Gilbert Road and Loop 202 overpass. After a lengthy ordeal, a 31-year-old female was moved to safety around 1:30 PM and was transported for a medical evaluation."
