Arizona Governor Katie Hobbs held a news conference on April 12, "commemorating her first 100 days in office."

Hobbs spoke at the state capitol about several topics, including the border. She says she wants to stop politicizing the issue and work on border security.

Last month, Hobbs and Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas toured the border in Nogales, announcing an operation targeting fentanyl.

Gov. Hobbs holds First 100 Days news conference

"A look at the first 100 days shows that we hit the ground running," Hobbs said in a news release. "I’m excited to highlight our accomplishments and share with Arizonans that this is just the beginning."

"In just its first week, this operation successfully intercepted 100 pounds of cocaine, 700 pounds of meth and 800 pounds of fentanyl," she said. "That's not a political talking point, that's real action that saves lives."

During Wednesday's news conference, Hobbs also defended the nearly 40 vetoes she's issued in her first 100 days in office, saying it's part of her promise to bring sanity to the government and end what she calls "out of tough legislation."

Guest speakers at the news conference included Lt. Gov. Monica Antone, of the Gila River Indian Community, Arizona Department of Housing Director Joan Serviss, and Mesa Mayor John Giles.
