Glendale man arrested for alleged unlicensed contract work
PHOENIX (AP) - A Glendale man has been arrested for allegedly doing contracting work without a license.
Goodyear police say they took 56-year-old Jairo "Joe" Aparicio into custody after a traffic stop last Thursday on a failure to appear warrant.
A 2016 Arizona Registrar of Contractors investigation found Aparicio was paid nearly $5,500 for a Phoenix home remodeling project. Authorities say some work was started, but the project was abandoned.
Last month, Aparicio pleaded guilty to attempting to engage in contracting without a license and was fined and sentenced to two years of unsupervised probation.
Since 2006, the state Registrar of Contractors has investigated eight other complaints involving Aparicio.
He was found guilty in one case, pleaded guilty in four others, one case was dismissed by prosecutors and two were declined for prosecution.
