Georgia woman celebrates 100th birthday

ATLANTA (FOX 5 Atlanta) - A Georgia woman was all smiles Monday as she celebrated a huge milestone.

Christine Hood said she's 100 years young!

A.G. Rhodes Nursing Home in Atlanta threw Hood a birthday party Monday afternoon with cake and music, including one of her favorite songs, "Oh, When the Saints."

So, what's the secret to a long life? Hood credits her faith and taking things slowly.

"I took my time living, I thought before I spoke, and I was glad to be in the life of Christ," Hood said.

Friends and family describe hood as warm with a nurturing spirit. She devoted much of her life to raising her family which includes one of the FOX 5 Atlanta alum, Karen Graham, who worked at the station for 16 years.
