Former VA employee accused of luring a minor for sex

Authorities say a 50-year-old man is accused of attempting to meet a minor online for sex in the Phoenix area.

Back in December, an Internet Crimes Against Children detective was posing as the girl and browsing ads posted to Backpage.com. The detective responded to the ad and received a response from "Heywoood Jablome" by e-mail for a place to meet.

Per the Mesa Police report, "Due to the fact that Heywood Jablome believes that he is chatting with a 13 year old girl, I authored a subpoena request for subscriber information for Backpage.com and Google.com."

From the documents sent to police, the detective was able to obtain the IP addresses that created the ads and the e-mail address.

Per the report, "I used an open source search database to check who the internet provider was for this IP address and it showed the Department of Veterans Affairs. The defendant works for the VA for the past four years."

After being in communication with the suspect, police located him at the meeting location, which was a movie theater parking lot.

According to police, Ross Dean Brown was arrested and admitted that he was meeting at the location with what he believed to be a 13-year-old girl.

Brown faces luring a minor for sex and prostitution charges.
