Fatality reported at VAI resort construction site: Glendale PD
GLENDALE, Ariz. - Glendale Police officials have released details surrounding an incident at the VAI resort construction site that left one person dead on Dec. 16.
Per a statement released on Dec. 17, crews responded to a call for service at around 3:00 a.m. on Monday, and by the time first responders arrived, they "discovered a construction worker had fallen approximately six stories and died from their injuries."
The person who died has been identified by Glendale Police as 22-year-old Tyrone Tyre Wilson.
"Detectives determined this was an accidental fall and that no criminal activity had taken place. The case was handed over to OSHA from that point," read a portion of the statement.
In a separate statement on Dec. 16, officials with Fisher Sand & Gravel Co. said the deadly incident involved "a trade partner's employee."
"Our deepest condolences go out to the family, friends, and colleagues of the individual involved," read the statement.
