DPS: Wrong-way crash involved speeding motorcyclist

A west valley intersection has re-opened after a crash involving a speeding motorcyclist who was traveling the wrong way at times.

Department of Public Safety officials say the motorcycle crashed into a pickup truck at a high rate of speed at the Avondale Blvd. and McDowell Road intersection.

DPS says officers were following the motorcyclist on Interstate 10 and he wouldn't stop. That's when he exited the freeway and started going the wrong way on Thomas Road. He eventually lost control and crashed into the truck.

The motorcyclist was injured and rushed to an area hospital for treatment. Authorities say at some point after his release, he will be facing charges.

The man's name was not released.
