2 million donuts, baked goods recalled over listeria contamination worries
FDA recalling baked goods over safety concerns
The FDA has issued an upgraded recall for millions of baked goods made by FGF Brands due to possible listeria contamination. The products were sold under various brand names, including Dunkin.
PHOENIX - The FDA has issued an upgraded recall for millions of baked goods.
The recall, according to reports, affects 60 types of items made by FGF Brands.
What to know about the recall
What we know:
Per the FDA's website, the recalls were made due to "potential for contamination with listeria monocytogenes," and the items being recalled include filled flavored donuts, cinnamon sticks, french crullers, and fritters.
The items recalled are all within expiration, and produced on Dec. 13, 2024 and earlier. FDA officials say the recalled products were sold under various brand names, including Dunkin.
According to FDA officials, the recall first began on Jan. 7.
Company officials respond
Officials with FGF Brands have released a statement on the recall.
The other side:
In their statement, company officials said the voluntary recall was done as a precautionary measure, based on "non-product related findings at one of our donut facilities in the US."
Company officials also said the voluntary recall "was completed over a month ago (early January), and does not implicate anything that is currently, or was recently on the market."
What they're saying:
"No donuts or food contact surfaces ever tested positive for listeria," read a portion of the statement. "We take food safety seriously and acted with an abundance of caution."
