Crowd boos, jeers during Jeff Flake's town hall meeting

MESA, Ariz. (KSAZ) - Thursday night's Town Hall meeting with Sen. Jeff Flake (R-AZ) at the Mesa Convention Center was packed to the brim, in a room that reportedly fits approximately 1,750 people.

The meeting was loud and chaotic at times, with many people visibly and audibly upset and frustrated about what is happening in Washington. Many are also demanding answers and actions on a variety of topics.

The meeting lasted until approximately 9:30 p.m., and began at approximately 7:00 p.m. at the Convention Center. During the meeting, Flake discussed healthcare, immigration, defunding Planned Parenthood, and other topics. At times, the crowd chanted "no to the wall" and "shame on you" at Flake.

The crowd also had sheets of green and red papers, with a raised green piece of paper meaning someone in the crowd agrees with Flake, and red the opposite. More red papers were seen raised then green, according to FOX 10 Phoenix's Courtney Griffin. Many also said they believe Flake was not listening to them.

Some, however, believe Flake was not being treated fairly.

"He's being shouted over," said one person. "If he said one word, they shout at him."

"I think it's important to hold him accountable," said one woman. "I think it's important for [Flake] to have this experience, to go back to D.C., and to vote with this experience in mind."
