Chief Joe Yahner will remain as permanent chief until retirement

Acting Phoenix Police Chief Joseph Yahner will remain as chief until he retires in 18 months.

An official announcement is expected this week.

Yahner has been with the police department for 30 years.

He's served as the acting Chief of Police since December when former Chief Daniel Garcia was fired for insubortination.
