Canadian police promises to play Nickelback songs for those arrested for DUI

Police in one Canadian town are promising to play Nickelback songs for those arrested for alleged DUI.

Police in Kensington, a town in the country's Prince Edward Island province, made the promise in a Facebook post Saturday afternoon.

"On top of a hefty fine, a criminal charge and a year's driving suspension, we will also provide you with a bonus gift of playing the offices copy of Nickelback in the cruiser on the way to jail," read a portion of the post, which has since been deleted.

Featured in the Facebook post was the picture of an unopened cassette tape copy of Nickelback's 2001 album, Silver Side Up, which includes one of the band's most played songs on the radio, How You Remind Me.

There is a way, however, to prevent this from happening.

"Let's not ruin a perfectly good unopened copy of Nickelback. You don't drink and drive and we won't make you listen to it," read the post.

The Alberta, Canada-based band has yet to respond, on its Facebook and Twitter pages.

The Facebook post by Kensington Police in Canada came, as law enforcement in the U.S. have made similar promises. On November 23, police in one Minnesota town sent the following tweet.

The tweet, promising to play songs done by One Direction cover bands, was found in the verified page of the police department for Wyoming, MN, a town of over 7,700 people.

In the tweet, the sheriff's office promises to possibly play songs by Creed on the ride to jail, for those arrested for alleged DUI.
