Buckeye hot car death: Charges submitted against child's mother
BUCKEYE, Ariz. - Manslaughter and child abuse charges have been submitted to the Maricopa County Attorney's Office after a child died in a hot car last year.
On Sept. 8, a 4-year-old girl was found unresponsive inside a car at a home near Verrado Way and McDowell Road.
Buckeye Police said the toddler's family came home and realized hours later the child was still inside the car.
The girl was rushed to the hospital, but she later died.
A 4-year-old girl died after she was left inside a hot car on Sept. 8, 2024, near Verrado Way and McDowell Road.
Authorities took a temperature reading inside the car, with the doors open, and it was 130 degrees. The reading was taken "long after" the child had been found.
On Jan. 7, police said charges were submitted against the girl's mother.
"The Maricopa County Attorney’s Office is reviewing the case," police said in a statement.
