Authorities: Yuma County man opened fire in home, roadway
SOMERTON, Ariz. - An Arizona man is being held on charges that include aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after authorities say he opened fire in his house with three family members inside and on a road outside his house.
Yuma County sheriff’s officials say they were called to the area of 22-year-old Daniel Carranza-Alvarez’s residence Friday evening in Somerton.
They were responding to reports of a man shooting in the road. They say they later learned he also fired inside his house, and at a fourth victim who arrived in a vehicle.
No one was injured.
Authorities say Carranza-Alvarez mostly barricaded himself inside the house after officers arrived, though he emerged multiple times to shoot at a helicopter.
Authorities say Carranza-Alvarez surrendered shortly before 1 a.m. Saturday. It wasn’t yet clear whether he had an attorney.
