Arizonans Giffords, Gallego to address Democratic convention

PHOENIX (AP) -- Former Arizona Congresswoman Gabby Giffords and current U.S. Rep. Ruben Gallego are scheduled to address the Democratic Presidential Convention in Philadelphia next week.

The Democratic National Convention Committee's announcement Thursday of of dozens of additional convention speakers doesn't specify when each will address the convention.

Giffords was starting her third term in the U.S. House in 2011 when she was gravely wounded by a gunman during a public event in Tucson. She resigned in 2012.

Gallego is a former state legislator from Phoenix who is in his first House term. He represents Arizona's 7th Congressional District.
