Arizona DPS trooper ends nationwide manhunt for missing kids

Every day, Arizona Department of Public Safety Trooper Ashton Shewey gets behind the wheel, not knowing what the shift will bring.

Although he's faced tough situations before, on Saturday, he was faced with one of a different magnitude.

A call from a concerned driver sent Shewey to check out a swerving car on Interstate 10 near Eloy. The man, woman and two children pulled over turned out to be Keith Rogers and Antoinette Wong, who were both on the run from Shreveport, Louisiana, with Wong's two kids in the backseat.

A nationwide manhunt had just come to a close. Authorities say the two were trying to dodge multiple offenses.

Rogers was facing a homicide charge, along with three robbery charges and Wong was up against two armed robbery charges. Both also had parental abduction charges added to their wrap sheets.

Authorities say the two took the 2-year-old and 7-year-old kids in Louisiana and one of them was believed to have been taken by force.

The case has now been turned over to the FBI and the children were turned over to the Arizona Department of Child Safety before being returned to Louisiana.
