Arizona Diamondbacks say roof will have complete functionality for 2025 MLB season

The Arizona Diamondbacks are expected to have full access to its retractable roof for the 2025 season, President and CEO Derrick Hall said in a statement on Wednesday.

In previous years, the team had to decide before games whether the roof would be open or closed.

In March, the D-backs preseason game at Chase Field was canceled after six innings because the roof couldn't be closed when rain unexpectedly started to fall over Phoenix.

"We will have complete roof functionality for the 2025 season and be fully operational by Opening Day," Hall said in the statement.

The Diamondbacks are still under contract to lease Chase Field for three more years.

Hall has said in the past that it is the team's first priority to keep the team in Downtown Phoenix.
