A 41-pound cat needs a forever home

NEW YORK CITY, N.Y. (FOX 13) - A 41-pound cat needs a whole lot of love, and a forever home.

Barsik, the plump feline from New York City, has scales tipping at over 40 pounds. The 5-year-old male is up for adoption by the Animal Care Centers of NYC. His owners left town and dropped him off there.

Barsik was too big for any regular cage at the shelter though, so he is at a kitty foster home in the city. There, volunteers are monitoring his weight loss, and said it's clear that as he loses weight, he'll gain nothing but love.

Barsik's foster friends said he is as sweet as he is large.
