2nd contestant from the valley on MasterChef Jr.
SURPRISE, Ariz. (KSAZ) - There are three contestants from the valley on the FOX show "MasterChef Junior," with a new season starting Friday on FOX 10.
13-year-old Corey is a miniature chef, a real spit-fire, all about taking risks and having fun. His personal motto is "You gotta get crazy in the kitchen!"
"I used to be kinda shy," said Corey Gifft.
Corey is just like one of his masterful dishes, made up of a lot of ingredients.
"Corey is brilliant, he's relaly smart, a hard worker, he's a love bug and he's really sweet," said Dudliena Gifft, Corey's mom.
The middle child of three will tell you he's always been comfortable cooking for his family.
"Fish is really easy to cook because my parents, my dad's side is from the islands, the Carribean, so fish is pretty easy to cook," he said.
With a heart and personality to match the size of his signature hair, Corey says the favorite part of being on the show was making friends, but he could have done without the whole judging part.
But cooking isn't the only thing this 8th grader loves, he also has a flair for acting, something he also brings to the kitchen when impersonating his favortite chef, Guy Fieri.
All three of the contestants from the valley will be on Master Chef Junior, airing Fridays at 7 p.m. on FOX 10.
