2 men arrested for shooting of Aberdeen police officer

Police have captured a man suspected of shooting a Maryland police officer during an early morning incident in Harford County. A second suspect was also arrested for the incident.

Aberdeen police say they arrested 21-year-old Tyler Testerman at around 11 a.m. Friday. He is facing charges of attempted murder. On Friday night, police arrested 26-year-old Scott Patrick Lawrence and have charged with attempted homicide and other crimes.

The shooting happened in Aberdeen Friday when police say the officer was responding to a call for suspicious activity. Police spokesman Sgt. C. William Reiber says a suspect fired a long gun at the officer, who has undergone surgery for a "projectile in his eye."

The wounded officer has been hospitalized after being shot in the face. He was flown to Shock Trauma in Baltimore and is in stable condition.

Police say a .410-caliber shotgun believed to be used in the shooting was recovered.

Schools in Aberdeen were delayed in opening as police searched the area for Testerman.
