18-year-old woman dead, multiple wounded in shooting at downtown Phoenix motel

PHOENIX (FOX 10) - Officials are investigating a shooting that left multiple people wounded and one dead in downtown Phoenix Sunday.

The shooting happened at the Payless Inn near 25th Street and Van Buren.

Police say a heated, verbal altercation started between two males and a group of people on the second floor of the hotel. The alleged suspects then pulled out a hand gun and started firing.

Police confirm six people were wounded, three males and three females, including one of the alleged suspects. The victims range in age from 18 to 41-years-old. One 18-year-old female died.

At least three of the victims are in extremely critical condition, one is serious and another suffered minor injuries.

Police are also looking for one possible outstanding suspect. They say there is no immediate threat to the community at this time.

Investigators currently have 25th street closed from E. Van Buren to E. Adams Streets.
