Spectacular temperatures are on the docket for the weekend in the Phoenix-metro area.

After a long stretch of above average temperatures, we'll finally start to see temperatures trend downward beginning this weekend.

Friday  hit a high of 78 degrees with winds gusting up to 15-20 mph in Phoenix. It will be a mostly sunny day in the Valley. However, along the far southeastern part of the state, a few isolated showers will be possible. The showers will be light and spotty, and won't track far enough northwest to reach the Valley.

The spotty showers will fall apart this evening, and dry conditions are forecast for the entire state this weekend.

As for temperatures, they'll remain in the upper 70s on Saturday and fall to the middle to lower 70s on Sunday and Monday.

A storm system will pass over the Pacific Northwest and eventually to the north of Arizona early next week. As it moves through, cooler air and breezy conditions will arrive in Arizona by Tuesday into Wednesday.

As a result of this pattern shift, high temperatures will return to around average in the upper 60s. It will turn chilly in the Valley during the mornings with lows in the upper 30s and low 40s.

While temperatures will return to more seasonal conditions, no rain or snow is expected this weekend or into next week. Instead, dry conditions will prevail through mid-December.
