4 p.m. Weather Forecast - 12/20/24

We've set a daily high temperature record that has been in place since 1954 as the thermometer reached 83° today.

Record heat continues right into the weekend.

Wednesday and Thursday, the high temperature at Sky Harbor Airport hit 83 degrees, setting records both days. Friday we also hit 83 degrees, which shattered the previous record of 78 set in 1954. It will be dry and mostly sunny across the state.

Over the weekend, the pattern will slowly start to break down. Saturday should still see record warmth with a high of 79 degrees. The current record is 78 degrees, set just last year in 2023.

Sunday will remain below record territory with a forecast high of 76. Both days over the weekend will begin with lows in the 40s and low 50s with dry conditions and a mostly sunny sky.

The dry weather carries on through next week! A cold front approaches the state by Tuesday into Wednesday. As a result, middle 70s are forecast Monday and Tuesday but by Christmas Day, highs in the upper 60s and low 70s are likely around the Valley. Winds may pick up a bit with the cold front, but it passes through mostly dry.

Next week should remain a bit more comfortable in the extended forecast with highs in the lower 70s.
