Morning Weather Forecast - 1/16/25

Mostly sunny and warmer temps in the Valley with a high in the 70s.

A few changes to the forecast over the next 24 hours!

What we know:

An area of low pressure will move into Arizona overnight into Friday. The system will combine with a large trough of cold air from the north. As it does so, the temperatures will drop through the weekend and into next week.

While high temperatures are expected to reach the middle 70s in Phoenix Thursday, highs will drop into the middle 60s beginning Friday and lasting into next week.

What's next:

Thursday will shift from sunny to partly cloudy through the afternoon.  By Thursday evening, a few light, spotty showers will pass the state. The best chance for some hit or miss showers will be over Yavapai and Gila Counties. A sprinkle or two may move over the northeast edge of the Valley, near the foothills. A few snow showers, light and brief, are also possible over the higher elevations along the Mogollon Rim and White Mountains into early Friday morning.

The moisture moves past Arizona quickly, and we dry out by Friday mid-morning.

Friday winds will increase in the High Country. Gusts 20-30 mph are possible Friday, Saturday and Sunday in Northern Arizona. The forecast high Friday is 66 degrees, this will likely repeat through the weekend with sunny conditions.

Unfortunately, while next week looks cool, it also looks dry across the state.
