Weather service heat warning for Phoenix, eastern California

Phoenix's dry heat became a deadly heat Thursday as the National Weather Service issued an excessive heat warning for the area, with temperatures projected to hit 114 degrees, the highest of the year so far. The warning extended into other parts of Arizona and California.
