Kansas Highway Patrol trooper dodges semi while trying to rescue stranded motorist, child

Kansas Highway Patrol Trooper Karl Koenig responded to a crash involving a stranded vehicle. Trooper Keonig discovered the driver and a small child were trapped inside the car. “After parking his vehicle in a manner to protect against further accidents, he began his mission of bringing the stranded individuals to safety,” the highway patrol said. “Unfortunately, a semi-truck was approaching too quickly.” Trooper Koenig was able to dodge the oncoming semi, and without skipping a beat, he went back to trying to get the stranded driver and child out of the car. The governor of Kansas presented Trooper Koenig with the "Super Hero Award" for his selflessness and dedication to saving lives.
