Woman shot in Surprise

Police are investigating after a woman was shot near El Mirage and Bell roads overnight. No suspects have been arrested.

Surprise toddler nearly drowns in pool, authorities say

A toddler is in the hospital after being pulled from a backyard pool. It happened on Aug. 6 in Surprise near 179th Avenue and Greenway Road. Fire crews say the two-year-old was underwater for about five minutes and suffered respiratory arrest. A medical chopper flew the child to Phoenix Children's Hospital.
