A jury of 12 will decide the fate of Chad Daybell as closing arguments wrapped up Wednesday afternoon in the triple murder case against the self-proclaimed doomsday prophet in Idaho. FOX 10's Justin Lum has the latest.

Chad Daybell’s defense attorney John Prior painted the self-proclaimed doomsday prophet as a victim of convicted murder Lori Vallow and her late brother Alex Cox. During closing arguments, Prior said there was reasonable doubt in the triple murder case and asked the jury to return a verdict of “not guilty.”

Lead prosecutor Lindsey Blake presented closing arguments for the State of Idaho v Chad Daybell on Day 31 of trial. She led with the theme of “money, power, and sex” as the alleged motives of the self-proclaimed "Doomsday Prophet" accused of murdering JJ Vallow, Tylee Ryan and Tammy Daybell. If found guilty, Chad Daybell could face the death penalty.

In the prosecution’s rebuttal, Detective Bruce Mattingly with the Fremont County Sheriff’s Office returned to testify on a conversation between he and Emma Murray, the daughter of Chad and Tammy Daybell. An audio recording played in court challenged what Emma said in her testimony regarding the results of her mom’s autopsy and the conditions of learning the findings.

A new witness called by the prosecution for rebuttal, states that Garth Daybell told him how he found his dead mother Tammy Daybell on October 19, 2019. The witness says Garth’s father Chad was not around in the house. In prior testimony by Garth Daybell, he said his father woke him up to help after his mother was found deceased.

During day 29 of Chad Daybell's triple murder trial in Idaho, Dr. Eric Bartelink, an anthropology expert, was called by the defense to testify on the burned remains of Lori Vallow's daughter, Tylee Ryan.
