The Hawks neighbors, the Atlanta Falcons, first brought the innovative concept of fan focused concessions to a NFL stadium. The Hawks say Philips Arena will be the first NBA venue with the pricing plan.

The plan for more affordable menu items accompanies the completion of the second phase of an extensive renovation of Philips Arena in October.

In a news release sent to FOX 5, Atlanta Hawks Basketball Club and Philips Arena CEO Steve Koonin said:

The Hawks, along with the their food and beverage partner, Levy, said there will be a 71% increase in points of sale, nearly 40% more beer taps and new line designs and self-serve stations, and faster service.

Team officials said food and beverage prices on some of the most popular menu items will drop by 50%, including $5 beers. The lower prices will be for every event at Philips Arena.
