Johnny Manziel's ex-girlfriend told police he hit her so hard on the left side of the head she lost hearing for days in her left ear.
Last week, the Tarrant County judge who signed a protective order for her wrote that he believed domestic violence happened and FOX4 obtained the documents on Monday.
The ex-girlfriend said in the affidavit for the protective order she was forced to go with Manziel against her will to her Fort Worth apartment and she was tormented the entire way.
The problems started at Uptown Dallas' Hotel ZaZa on Jan.30 when the ex-girlfriend and Manziel got into an argument in his room over another woman. She said Manziel quickly became violent and threw her on the bed, grabbed her by her hair and hit her on the side of the head hard enough to rupture her eardrum.
Manziel took her down to his car where, the affidavit said, she pleaded with a valet telling them "Please don't let him take me. I'm scared for my life" and the valet replied "I don't know what to do."
On the way to Fort Worth, she said Manziel said he would drop her off and take his car and go kill himself. She said later he told her to shut up and threatened to kill her too.
After the two arrived at her Fort Worth apartment, the ex-girlfriend said she feared for her life and grabbed a knife from her kitchen and went after Manziel -- who ran outside.
She also went outside and screamed for help.
The ex-girlfriend at first refused to cooperate with Fort Worth police, who said they would not arrest Manziel because of a lack of evidence. Dallas police also initially dropped their investigation, until she filed a case with them and Dallas police announced they were re-opening the case.
Dallas Police Chief David Brown said Monday detectives plan to meet again with Manziel's ex-girlfriend when she's ready to discuss the domestic violence assault investigation.
"It's not uncommon for victims to either delay or go at a very slow pace in coming forward when it's a domestic violence issue," Chief Brown said. "We will continue to speak with the victim, but at her pace."
In that protective order, Manziel has to stay away from the ex-girlfriend for two years and pay the woman's attorney fees of more than $12,000. Manziel has not been arrested or charged, but Dallas PD's investigation is still ongoing.
