Wrong-way crash closes Loop 202 in Chandler

CHANDLER, Ariz. (KSAZ) - Authorities say a wrong-way driver caused a three-car crash on an East Valley freeway on Monday night.

The Arizona Department of Public Safety tells FOX 10 that a woman driving an SUV entered the Loop 202 at Kyrene going eastbound in the westbound lanes. When she tried to turn around to go in the right direction, she hit a pickup truck head-on, which caused a rollover.

After hitting the pickup truck, the SUV hit a third vehicle.

Two people were transported to nearby hospitals, but their conditions are unknown.

The roadway reopened at about midnight.

The investigation is ongoing by DPS.
