PORT CANAVERAL, Fla. (FOX 35 WOFL) - The world's largest cruise ship, Royal Caribbean's Symphony of the Seas, is now docked at Port Canaveral. The ship arrived early on Thursday morning.
The ship is four football fields long, has 18 decks, includes a 10-story waterslide, offers 2-story family suites, and even has 24 guest elevators. The ship is on its way to Miami from Barcelona, which will be its home port. The ship just stops in Port Canaveral to clear customs.
The ship's 5,439 passengers have to disembark in Port Canaveral. About 2,000 of these passengers will go on short local excursions and return in time for departure.
The Harbor Pilot Doug Brown says that "when you get something that's this big out at sea, it takes over a mile to stop and I have about 2,000 feet to stop it. That's just a little more than twice the size of the ship."
The Symphony of the Seas will depart Port Canaveral at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Watch the ship's arrival in to the Port below.
