Music legend Willie Nelson is headlining a rally for U.S. Senate Democratic candidate Beto O'Rourke on September 29th in Austin. The event is first come first serve and is being held at Auditorium Shores.

Besides Nelson, other performers include Joe Ely, Tameca Jones, Carrie Rodriguez as well as Nelson's two sons Lukas and Micah.

In a press release from Nelson's publicist, Willie says:

"My wife Annie and I have met and spoken with Beto and we share his concern for the direction things are headed. Beto embodies what is special about Texas, an energy and an integrity that is completely genuine."

This is the first public concert that Nelson has held for a political candidate but it's not the first time that O'Rourke and Nelson have been at the same event.

O'Rourke appeared at Nelson's July 4th Picnic where he joined the band onstage and played guitar and sang during the final medley of songs.

O'Rourke will be in attendance and is expected to address the crowd. O'Rourke said in the release:

"Amy and I have had the amazing opportunity to talk with Willie and Annie about the kind of future we want for our state when everything we care about is on the line. We are grateful to have Willie's support as we continue running this race the right way: no PACs, no corporations, no special interests -- just the people of Texas coming together to do something absolutely incredible."

O'Rourke is running for the U.S. Senate seat currently held by Republican Ted Cruz. Cruz also has a big name supporting his reelection bid. President Donald Trump has said he will be holding a rally for Cruz sometime in October.

People will have to register if they want to attend the O'Rourke rally on September 29. You can get more information here.
