A wild chase from Coweta County to Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport topped out at speeds of 120 miles an hour as deputies tried to catch a would-be car thief.

Just a short time before the chase, deputies said it was a child's screams that scared off the thief when he tried to break into a family's minivan. Marie Duncan was dropping off her one-year-old son at Kids R Kids daycare Tuesday and left her 3-year-old daughter in the family's minivan. She said she parked right in front the front doors that were just five feet away. She said she was gone only a couple minutes but an employee spotted someone breaking into the car and heard the child's screams.

Sheriff's deputies were convinced the man would have stolen the car but the child scared him off.

Coweta County deputies caught up with the man and female driving a blue 2017 Nissan Rogue SUV. They said the couple was driving 120 miles an hour in a wild chase that ended near the airport.

The couple managed to get away. Gone are Marie's iPhone and purse. Left behind a lot of scary memories.

Marie and William said they've comforted their daughter and told her to forget those bad words.

Turns out the SUV was stolen in Atlanta. Deputies are still searching for information about the couple. Anyone with information is asked to call the Coweta County Sheriff's Office.
